Perez Is All Revved Up After Summer Break
Chesterfield’s Amigos Team Parker racer Seb Perez means to carry on where he left off this weekend after the six week Summer racing break in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship.
The 18 year old Race ace travels to Snetterton race circuit in Norfolk, after a fantastic first part of the racing season that has seen him take to the wheel of a new car for the season and reap rewards from his season change to Porsche from the last few seasons racing in Ginetta Championships.
The season so far has seen Perez race at Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Monza Italy and six weeks ago at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
Each round of two races have had a story to tell and one that has got better as the season has progressed.
After his announcement at the beginning of the year Perez knew that a swap of car from Ginetta to Porsche and championship would always be hard but in true style he has made his mark in the championship.
In April it all began after testing the Amigos Team Parker Porsche 911 GT3 race car for the first time he was let loose in the at Brands Hatch for the first two races, Perez went to the Kent Circuit with his Nottinghamshire Teammate George Gamble topping speeds of over 135 mph, race one he was unfortunately shunted off into the gravel to end his race and taking a top ten place in race two.
Three weeks later the racer had a tough weekend at local Leicestershire circuit Donington Park but saw him take a second ProAm contender place. The weekend was hampered by bad weather and it was decided to gain points rather than a category win seeing the chequered flag in race one, 11th position and just missing a podium place to take fourth in ProAm. Race two saw him take 8th place, Perez was still happy taking second and a maiden podium in the ProAm category in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB after 4 rounds.
Mid May saw both Amigo Team Parker Racing and both drivers highlight of the year so far, they travelled to the iconic F1 circuit Monza in Italy as a support race to the European Le Mans Series.
Perez stormed both races during the weekend with two podium places, his impressive show of talent also gained him the Carrera Cup “Driver of the Weekend” for his performance in the Porsche 911 GT3 and became the only driver in the series to win two races in one weekend.
He finished race one in fifth overall and race two he crossed the line fifth, taking the category victory in the process.
Amigos Team mate George Gamble was on form too taking fourth spot in race one but finishing on a high by winning a thrilling race two.
Before the summer break at the beginning of June Seb travelled to Oulton Park, an impressive victory in race one in the Pro Am title, his third win of the season was complemented by yet another podium spot in race two, taking third place after an intense battle for the lead, meaning he leaves the Cheshire circuit just seven points shy of the championship lead.
After Oulton he said “It’s been a tough weekend all round to be honest but I’m really pleased that I made the most of it, no matter what was thrown at me,”
He added “I’m looking forward to the second part of the season, after the Summer break”
Perez leaves Oulton Park in third place ProAm and third place Rookie driver.
Amigos Team Parker Racing retains its second place in the Entrant Championship.
