Chesterfield manufacturer scoops prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise
Chesterfield-based Heraeus Electro-Nite (UK) has achieved a highly-prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise.
The company received the accolade for the development and global roll out of revolutionary technology for the continuous measurement of temperature of steel in the continuous casting process.
Heraeus Electro-Nite (UK) is one of 252 organisations nationally to be recognised with the award. The King’s Award for Enterprise is the highest official UK award for British businesses, recognising and celebrating outstanding achievements in enterprise. The scheme was established as The Queen’s Award to Industry by a royal warrant of 30 November 1965, and awards are given for outstanding achievement.
Winners can fly the King’s Awards flag at their main office and use the emblem on marketing materials. Often seen as a Royal Seal of approval, this award is highly valued by suppliers, customers, and employees, demonstrating commitment to innovation and excellence.
Employing 72 people, Heraeus Electro-Nite (UK) was founded in 1989 and provides measurement solutions for the steel industry.

The company picked up the King’s Award for International Trade for Outstanding Short-Term Growth in overseas sales over three years. The celebration began on 4th July with Mark Lee, Managing Director, being invited to a Royal reception at Windsor Castle alongside other award winners. There, he had the honour of meeting members of the Royal Family,
including His Majesty King Charles III.
On 19th November 2024, the team gathered at Chesterfield offices to celebrate this achievement with a special ceremony attended by distinguished guests, including the Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Mrs. Elizabeth Fothergill, CBE, His Majesty’s representative for the region.
The company was also honoured to welcome Deputy Lord-Lieutenants Mr. Tony Walker, CBE, former Managing Director of Toyota UK, and William Beckett, OBE, a multiple Queen’s Award winner and founder of William Beckett Plastics.
Heraeus Electro-Nite (UK) joins fellow Chesterfield manufacturer, United Cast Bar in winning a King’s Award in 2024.
