My Future
My Future was a state-of-the-art virtual gateway, used as a tool to support individuals with their next career steps. The platform was a key deliverable of the Chesterfield Borough Council’s Economic Recovery Plan following the Covid-19 pandemic, to provide careers support in the form of an online career fair whilst in-person events couldn’t take place.
Chesterfield Borough Council worked in partnership with Destination Chesterfield, Oasis Studio and D2N2LEP to deliver My Future. Since launching the platform in 2020, over 9,000 individuals accessed career support and guidance through the career platform.
It allowed individuals to:
- Meet local employers and explore apprenticeship opportunities
- Work with training providers to learn about and access courses that are available
- Virtually visit post-16 institutions including colleges and universities
- Learn about the employment opportunities in your town
The platform helped many individuals to plan their next steps. George was studying his A-Levels and used the My Future platform to plan his next education steps and shape his thoughts around the careers he could do.
The video explains how George used the platform to help with making these choices.
Up to 100 local businesses were showcased on the platform to give young people access to a wide range of high-quality career advice, employment support, skills, and educational programmes.
