Employer: Arvato

Name of Apprenticeship: ICT Service Desk Analyst

Twenty-four-year-old Jordan Shepherd completed his apprenticeship five years ago and is still with the same employer enjoying a successful career as an ICT Service Desk Analyst.

The former Springwell Community School student studied a two-year Level 4 Apprenticeship with Arvato, before securing his current role.

His job entails providing technical support including supporting computer hardware, operating systems, applications and networks for all services offered by Arvato ICT Services.

“Every day brings new, exciting and challenging jobs to tackle,” said Jordan, who lives in Hollingwood. “I also have a good rapport with the customers and also enjoy meeting new faces.”

Jordan decided on an apprenticeship because he felt it sounded appealing when he was looking for work

“I never thought University was my thing and heard a lot of bad news about University,” he said.

Jordan wants to further himself in the IT sector and is hoping to work his way up to a management role.

He added: “An apprenticeship is definitely a good starting point to get you in a real corporate working environment.”

“I would advise young people to find out as much as you can about the apprenticeship and if you think it fits you then apply for it.”
