Destination Chesterfield

Board Member Recruitment

Passionate about promoting Chesterfield and supporting the local economy?

Destination Chesterfield is recruiting new board members to drive the delivery of the Destination Chesterfield Strategy 2024 – 2027.

If you are part of a Chesterfield Champion organisation, passionate about the town and feel you could support Destination Chesterfield by joining its board, we would love to hear from you.

How would you be making a difference?

The Destination Chesterfield Board is a partnership to drive a collective, strategic approach to place-making and place marketing for Chesterfield. It brings together the private, public and third sectors to shape, influence, promote and deliver the economic growth aspirations of the borough of Chesterfield.

As a member of the Board, you would influence the strategic direction of Destination Chesterfield including the Chesterfield Champions scheme and facilitating collaboration and partnership working across the town.

In particular, you would be supporting direction setting, securing resources, overseeing financial performance, and delivery of targets and priorities identified in the Destination Chesterfield Strategy, together with ensuring the project meets the conditions of any external funding.

What would you be helping Destination Chesterfield to achieve?

You would be guiding the Destination Chesterfield team to coordinate the town’s marketing activity and develop campaigns to tell Chesterfield’s story to target audiences.

Through the project’s marketing activity, perceptions of Chesterfield are challenged, and you would be supporting the team to deliver success, evidenced through tangible, measurable results in terms of promotional coverage and investment.

Most importantly, Destination Chesterfield works alongside partners to deliver its marketing activity. You would play a vital role in the growth of a network of organisations from the private, public, and third sectors to collaborate to support economic growth and proactively promote Chesterfield to internal and external markets.

What would you be doing?

As a Board member, you would be expected to:

  • Attend meetings of the Board
  • Reflect the agreed view of the Board and its members in all discussions with partners and stakeholders
  • Monitor the strategic delivery of Destination Chesterfield and the Chesterfield Champions scheme, in conjunction with the Chair
  • Support the Chair by leading activities relevant to their knowledge and experience by representing the interests of Destination Chesterfield in meetings with partners and stakeholders
  • Ensure your respective organisation appropriately supports collaborative place-making and the Destination Chesterfield Strategy, and identify opportunities to promote Chesterfield and support campaigns and projects
  • Actively develop an effective partnership
  • Contribute knowledge and expertise to the development and delivery of the Destination Chesterfield Strategy and Implementation plan and support the strategic development of place-making, place-shaping and place-marketing activity for Chesterfield
  • Formally represent Destination Chesterfield in meetings with other bodies and partner organisations, at conferences or events or media enquiries, as required
  • Promote and encourage involvement in the Destination Chesterfield Partnership by encouraging others to join the Chesterfield Champions scheme
