Derbyshire Rail Industry Innovation Vehicle (DRIIVe)
DRIIVe is a modern rail innovation and training centre, located next to Barrow Hill Roundhouse.
The centre will provide 1,423 square metres of floor space, consisting of classroom and workshop training areas. Additionally, the centre will boast specialist research and development facilities including a digital laboratory, and commercial offices.
DRIIVe will support a network of speciality training providers – offering rail-related education. from level 2 through to postgraduate training and research.

Early development and design costs were funded through the Staveley Town Deal Accelerator Fund.
This project will be led by Chesterfield Borough Council and delivered in partnership with Barrow Hill Engine Shed Society, the University of Derby, Chesterfield College and New Rail (part of Newcastle University).
It will create more than 1,400 square metres of new training, research, commercial office and workshop space. DRIIVe will also create more than 20 full time jobs.
By year five, DRIIVe aims to support around 270 trainees. The project will support local people to access highly skilled careers in the rail industry.
