Entertainment

Acts confirmed so far include the following, new for 2024!

Everybody Dance (27th July only)

Join in with a large-scale group dance in Queen’s Park as part of the Chesterfield Children’s Festival!

Everybody Dance is a dance routine to The Jackson 5 song ABC. No matter your age or ability, you are encouraged to learn the dance in advance and be part of Chesterfield’s biggest dance routine!

The routine, choreographed by local dance artist Karla Jones, is designed to be simple so that everyone can take part. There’s also a sit-down version for anyone with mobility issues.  Chesterfield dance school, Laura Clowes School of Dance, is supporting the event, with teachers and students helping people pick up the moves at practice sessions on the day.

Instruction videos can be viewed online or on the Junction Arts TikTok channel, @junctionartsuk. Local dance schools who would like to get involved should email jemma@junctionarts.org.

Blockbuster Factory

Step into Martin Bielspurg’s film venture, where you’re not just an audience but the beating heart of the movie! Join his stretched yet dedicated assistant Phil in one of a diverse range of roles—be it camera whiz, makeup artist, daring stunt double, or star beside the magnetic actor Charles Bexley-Heath.  Your involvement sways the tale—it’s not just a show, but your chance to shape a film’s destiny. NB. All props and equipment are bananas.

Ghetto Fabulous – Family Catwalk Extravaganza!

Bring your Glamour, Glitz and Grace as four dancers go head to head in a dance, fashion and lip sync competition where the audience decides the winner!

Volo: Dreams of Flight

You will be able to don a VR headset, climb aboard, and take flight in one of four virtual flying machines! We’ll also have one wheelchair-accessible swing. Flap and soar over cliffs as an Ornithopter bird-person; ascend to join a psychedelic aerial ballet in your Helical Screw; shoot into satellite orbit from a renaissance cannon; or bank and weave in a Glider across extraterrestrial landscapes.

Take Flight

An interactive workshop for babies (0-2 years) and their carers that ignites the imagination and curiosity of babies as they explore unique sensory props and toys, including laying in the aerial sling
