National Apprenticeship Week 2021 – Civil Engineer & Environmental Practitioner Degree Apprenticeships

This Webinar, hosted by the University of Derby is part of National Apprenticeship Week 2021 and focuses on  Civil Engineer & Environmental Practitioner Degree Apprenticeships

Civil Engineer Degree Apprenticeship Level 6:

Our Civil Engineer Degree Apprenticeship programme is suitable for engineers who undertake design, feasibility, project planning or site work for projects and operations in road, rail, water, infrastructure management, including safety and quality checks.

The embedded degree programme is accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers and has been designed for apprentices to achieve the high level academic and workbased skills necessary for a professional career in civil engineering.

The academic curriculum has been designed to reflect the latest developments in civil, structural, geotechnical, hydraulic, surveying and transport infrastructure engineering within the construction and service industry so that graduates will have cutting edge skills.

The apprenticeship runs over a period of up to 5 years and incorporates a part time day release to achieve a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering (Apprenticeship). You can enter either in September or January.

Environmental Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship Level 6:

In this apprenticeship (normally 4 years – with 20% off the job learning), apprentices gain an academic degree in an environmentally based subject, as well as achieving the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours mandated in the apprenticeship.

They would typically in jobs such as Environmental advisor, Environmental engineer, Environmental protection officer, Environmental scientist, Environment impact assessor, Environmental (monitoring) assessor, Environmental auditor, Land use planner or Environmental coordinator or they be working in other roles using their environmental practice.

Environmental practitioners provide employers with a high level of expertise in complex environmental systems and may specialise in areas such as environmental policy and legislation, air quality, climate change, energy, water resources, waste management, ecology, acoustics, land contamination, sustainability, landscape or heritage.
