This January, ring in the new year with a performance of some iconic classical music by the excellent Sheffield Symphony Orchestra.
The New Year Viennese Gala Concert is returning to Chesterfield, led again by conductor John Longstaff and will feature support from guest soloist Heather Lowe, who is making her Winding Wheel Theatre debut.
Based on the New Year’s Concert held in Vienna on the morning of every January 1st since 1941, the Sheffield Symphony Orchestra will be performing their own unique rendition here at the Winding Wheel Theatre. With an event that’s steeped in tradition, we’re grateful that Sheffield Symphony Orchestra is able to connect our town to a significant feature of the classical music community.
It’s a once-a-year chance to be captivated by several classics from the Strauss family such as ‘Pizzicato-Polka’ and legendary waltz piece ‘The Blue Danube’, as the Sheffield Symphony Orchestra continue their exceptional performance record for another year.
Plus, listen out for celebrated movie soundtracks, such as ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘Carmen’, ‘White Horse Inn’, and other favourites that will feature throughout the performance.
We’re looking forward to a beautiful orchestral production that will also have us reminiscing about a distinctive era of film.
