Ewan Walker – MSE Hiller

Ewan Walker – MSE Hiller

Name: Ewan Walker

Age: 19

Employer: MSE Hiller

Apprenticeship: Level 3 Mechanical Engineering

Ewan joined MSE Hiller after completing his GCSEs. With a desire for practical learning, Ewan decided to go down the apprenticeship route.

He explained: “I chose an apprenticeship because I like the idea of working while I’m learning. Also, I feel I work best hands on and actually seeing how it’s done, instead of learning five days a week in a classroom.

“Some of the things I like about my apprenticeship are the trust you get from your employers to get the job done and how you are treated in general – they make you feel like you are really part of the workforce from day one.”

Ewan completed his Level 2 Mechanical Engineering course and is now undertaking the Level 3 course with the full support of his family. He added: “My family and friends were very supportive of me doing an apprenticeship. They can see how much I enjoy working at MSE Hiller and that makes them happy.”

He now hopes to complete the qualification and go on to do a HNC (Higher National Certificate).

Thinking about an apprenticeship? Ewan’s advice…

“Just go for it! It will be a great experience and you will learn so many new skills in the process.”
