Categories open to all business sectors in Chesterfield
Entrepreneur of the Year – sponsored by Banner Jones Solicitors
This award recognises entrepreneurial achievement of new sole traders and limited companies in Chesterfield and North Derbyshire that demonstrate leadership, vision and success. To be eligible for this award, the business must have been launched in either 2021 or 2022 and be able to demonstrate strong plans for growth. The winner will receive 10 hours of free mentoring with Banner Jones Solicitors’ commercial and employment law specialists, as well as a year of marketing support through Chesterfield Champions with Destination Chesterfield covering the contribution cost for a financial year.

Apprentice of the Year – sponsored by DBC Training
Has your apprentice made a significant contribution to the success of your business? Nominate them for an award and help Destination Chesterfield to raise awareness of the benefits of taking on an apprentice. To be eligible for this award, apprentices must have been registered on an apprenticeship in 2021 or 2022 in a business based in Chesterfield.

Sustainability Award – sponsored by Chesterfield Borough Council
Is your business actively supporting the drive to become carbon neutral and measuring and reporting progress? To enter, businesses must be based in Chesterfield and should demonstrate a commitment to sustainability during the past five years, including significant positive change over the past two years. Regeneration Award: Celebrating the built environment – sponsored by BHP Accountants
The Regeneration Award celebrates businesses that have made a meaningful impact to the built environment for the benefit of Chesterfield and the people who live and work here.
Applications are welcome from either a single business or a collective of businesses that have supported or delivered high quality spaces through regeneration, refurbishment, redevelopment, or improvements to the built environment within a 6-mile radius of Chesterfield town centre.

The Restaurant of the Year will have original and creative menus featuring high-quality, fresh ingredients. To be eligible for this category the business must be based within 6 miles of Chesterfield town centre.

Which cafe offers a wide selection of cakes and bites to eat, as well as a welcoming, comfortable and relaxing environment? To be eligible for this category the business must be based within 6 miles of Chesterfield town centre.

Pub/Bar of the Year – sponsored by Shorts Chartered Accountants
Judges for this award are looking at staff knowledge and service and the overall feel and facilities of the pub or bar. Businesses must be based within 6 miles of Chesterfield town centre to be eligible. The category includes pubs and bars that offer drinks as well as those that offer dining.

Food Producer of the Year (within 10 miles) – sponsored by MSE Hiller
Nominate your favourite food and drink producers in and around Chesterfield. To be eligible for this category the business must be based within 10 miles of Chesterfield town centre.

Accessibility Award – sponsored by Spirecross Ltd
The judges are looking for excellent examples of adaptions made by hospitality businesses to enable all customers to have an excellent experience when dining out. Accessibility adaptions could include products, technology, services, environments and more. To be eligible for this category the business must be based within 10 miles of Chesterfield town centre.

Retailer of the Year – sponsored by East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire)
Where is your favourite place to shop in Chesterfield? To be eligible, the retailer must be based in or around the main high streets of Chesterfield town centre, Staveley, Hasland, Derby Road, Chatsworth Road, Staveley and Whittington Moor. (This category is not open to service businesses e.g. salons or non-retail businesses – see the Independent High Street Business or customer service categories.)

This award celebrates the success of Chesterfield’s new high street businesses that have made a great impression on customers and visitors. Businesses must have opened in 2021 or 2022, be consumer facing and be based in or around the main high streets of Chesterfield town centre, Staveley, Hasland, Derby Road, Chatsworth Road, Staveley and Whittington Moor. (New hospitality businesses should ask customers to nominate in the Best New Hospitality Business category.)

Independent High Street Business
Independent businesses are what makes Chesterfield unique. Which is your favourite? To be eligible for this category, businesses must be be consumer facing and be based in or around the main high streets of Chesterfield town centre, Staveley, Chatsworth Road, Staveley and Whittington Moor. (This category is not open to hospitality businesses. Not open to national brands, must be 3 or fewer branches.)

Excellence in Customer Service – sponsored by Peak Pharmacy
The finalists will show excellence in customer service by putting customers first and going beyond the norm. Businesses must be consumer facing and be based on or around the main high streets of Chesterfield town centre, Staveley, Hasland, Derby Road, Chatsworth Road, Staveley and Whittington Moor. (This category is not open to hospitality businesses – customer service will be assessed as part of all hospitality categories.)
