Citizens Advice Chesterfield
At some point in our life, everyone needs a little help and advice. When problems show up, it’s relatively rare they come in ‘one neat package’. Life changes – such as the onset of disability or bereavement – can have a profound impact on our lives and those of our family. Accessing advice at the right time is essential and that’s where Citizens Advice Chesterfield come in.
Citizens Advice Chesterfield is a local Charity and for many people is the first point of call. They offer free, confidential, impartial, independent advice and information for the problems they face and improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.
Citizens Advice Chesterfield helps around 6,000 local residents with 20,000 problems every year; reaching one in seven of the total population. The service helps secure £5.7 million of financial gains for residents per year, £5million debt managed. Eight out of 10 people say advice has improved their health and wellbeing. The service opened in September 1987 with support from Chesterfield Borough Council and has been an asset for the town ever since.
They have a dedicated team of local staff and volunteers based at their drop-in service in Chesterfield town centre and at a number of outreach services, including GP Surgeries.
Their work is quality assured through Citizens Advice membership and they hold the Advice Quality Standard mark. In November 2017, they won the prestigious Money Support Project of the Year Award.
They are proud to be members of Destination Chesterfield and are happy to be working with other Champions to improve this wonderful town, its strong community and the lives of local residents.
