Derbyshire Addictions Advice Service
Derbyshire Addictions Advice Service (DAAS) is a registered charity providing services as part of the Derbyshire Recovery Partnership. It’s work to improve the lives of people across Chesterfield and Derbyshire affected by Substance Misuse.
DAAS is at the forefront of alcohol service provision in Chesterfield, maintaining this position for over 30 years. Working closely with a range of partner organisations, DAAS ensures those with alcohol problems and their families can access advice, information, and counselling free of charge.
One service provided is the CPDUK-accredited alcohol and substance misuse awareness training. This is available mainly for working professionals in Chesterfield and Derbyshire. The training is free for health and well-being workers in Derbyshire. Meanwhile, anyone working outside Derbyshire wishing to access the training can for a small fee.
Another service DAAS delivers is a BACP-accredited counselling service, which specialises in early trauma, addiction, and dependency as well as substance misuse.
Additionally, DAAS run an exciting veteran health and wellbeing project titled STAND TO. Part of the service is a single point of contact for veterans called the VIP (veteran information point), providing access to advice, information and support from a fellow veteran. It also links to a network of veteran volunteer opportunities, recovery activities and a comprehensive database of veteran specific support.
Elaine Handley, Service Manager (CEO) at DAAS says:
“We’re very proud of our achievements over the years. Our professionalism in addition to our strong reputation, is achieving positive outcomes for our client base. We’re proud to be serving our local community meanwhile maintaining a commitment to making valuable contributions to improving the health and well-being of the community we serve. Our Chesterfield base ensures strong links with local health and wellbeing providers. We are working together to ensure families in our community can gain access to information, support and counselling.”
