R P Davidson Cheese Factor
The Cheese Factor is a specialist cheese shop which stocks over 130 different cheeses from around the world. Simon Davidson is the proprietor of R.P Davidson Cheese Factor, a long established and well known family-run business in Chesterfield.
Simon’s father Roy started the business 57 years ago, originally on Chesterfield Market and then eventually it became a shop; the business now resides on the outside of the Market Hall opposite the old Post Office.
Born and bred in Chesterfield, Simon always tries to support other local businesses. This is evident in the variety of local produce he sells in the shop along side his cheese; from local beers to Yorkshire Parkin cake, Derbyshire Oatcakes and locally-made bread.
The Cheese Factor is proud to be a Chesterfield Champion, avidly supporting any initiative that will help Chesterfield to develop and grow as a destination. One of the ways the team does this is by attending many different food fairs promoting the shop and Chesterfield town centre.
Simon is also a regular on the public speaking circuit and Radio Sheffield, where he talks about the history of the business, how his Dad started selling cheese and includes a lot of history about Chesterfield town centre.
Commenting on Chesterfield’s positive future, Simon said: “I have seen many changes over the years but I think the Waterside and Peak Resort developments are particularly exciting and sure to put Chesterfield on the map as a serious destination for other business owners.”
