Listeners are based all over the world as well as throughout Derbyshire, and they access the station via the audio stream on the website and via TuneIn smartphone apps.
Since its launch in 2015, Spire Radio has shown itself as a vibrant community radio station with management and programming based on community access and participation, reflecting the special interests and needs of communities in Chesterfield and North Derbyshire.
Director and Studio Manager, Jordan Hartshorne has a passion for the local community and enjoys broadcasting to a local audience: “Volunteering at Spire Radio is very rewarding. The main reason we exist is to serve the local community, whether that’s keeping them company during the day online or while out and about across North Derbyshire attending some of the best events we have to offer.
“The Chesterfield Champions network has been vital in building links with our community through their various events throughout the year.”
Adam Marsden, Program Director helps ensure diverse programming throughout the day: “Being a part of Spire Radio has been great for helping me connect with the local community. During my time I have taken part in many of the fantastic events North Derbyshire has to offer and it shows just how well the community is brought together. The programming at Spire Radio has allowed many people within the community to enjoy show-casing their talents whilst enjoying being a part of the local community.”
