ActionCOACH Chesterfield team takes on 10km charity walk around Chatsworth

The team at ActionCOACH Chesterfield is taking on a charity effort today (Tuesday, 15th March) to raise funds for a hospice close to their heart.

They are embarking on a 10 kilometer ‘memory walk’ around Chatsworth, with up to 10 people expected to take part in the hike.

Any funds donated to the charity challenge will be given to the Nottinghamshire Hospice. The charity is dear to the team, with many team members sadly losing loved ones to terminal illnesses.

Donna Aplin, Business Development Manager at ActionCOACH Chesterfield said: “As a team, part of our growth journey is about helping others. We all saw the amazing work the charity has been doing and wanted to support. Being out together is also about team building and supporting the community. The charity is very close to our hearts and we wanted to recognise the work they do and what an invaluable service they provide.

“My sister has worked as a volunteer for several years in the local hospice. The support is amazing what they offer and it has stuck with me to help anyway I can. We have all appreciated the support and assistance provided by organisations like Nottinghamshire Hospice and we at ActionCOACH Chesterfield want to show our appreciation for the work of the charity.

“In times of need the Chesterfield community has always shown a big heart and no matter how small a donation in these difficult times would be greatly appreciated.”

ActionCOACH boosts fundraising efforts for children’s cancer charity

Business coaching company ActionCOACH, which has a team based in Chesterfield has partnered with Children with Cancer UK to help raise money for the charity.

Throughout September, which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Action Coaches across the UK are raising funds by delivering seminars for business owners – and 100% of the ticket price is being donated to the charity.

Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer.

Julie Wagstaff, UK Co-founder of ActionCOACH, is thrilled to be launching the initiative: “I think everyone has been affected by cancer at some point in their lifetime, but childhood cancers are particularly agonising to encounter and it’s a shocking statistic that on average 12 children and young people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer every day.

“We’re determined to help raise both awareness and funds for a brighter future for the children and families touched by cancer. We understand that children are the dreamers and entrepreneurs of the future, and that’s why we want to encourage business owners to get involved and help us make an impact on so many families across the UK.”

Around 4,500 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK, with it being the leading cause of death in children aged one to 14 years old.

Survivors can face a lifetime of serious health issues as a result of the intensive treatment used to treat their cancer, so the charity’s funds also focus on research for new therapies that are safer, kinder and with fewer toxic side effects. So far, the ActionCOACH UK network of 200+ coaches has raised over £27,000 for the charity, but they don’t want to stop there.

Cliff O’Gorman, CEO of Children with Cancer UK said: “We are so grateful for the fantastic support of ActionCOACH UK and their ongoing commitment to fundraise for Children with Cancer UK with such a great initiative. We are delighted that they share our mission to improve survival rates for children and young people diagnosed with cancer. The impact of this partnership is far reaching as it will help us continue to fund vital, life-saving research and find kinder, safer treatments with fewer toxic side effects.”

Kickstart Scheme enables Action Coach Chesterfield to grow

Action Coach Chesterfield is one of the latest businesses in the town to benefit from the Kickstart Scheme, which aims to reduce levels of unemployment among young people.

The initiative provides funding to create new jobs for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment. Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:

  • 100% of the National Minimum Wage (or the National Living Wage depending on the age of the participant) for 25 hours per week for a total of 6 months
  • associated employer National Insurance contributions
  • minimum automatic enrolment pension contributions

Action Coach Chesterfield has recently taken on Andrew Marwood as a Customer Journey Agent thanks to the scheme, after Managing Director, Fiaz Sadiq attended a Kickstart day at the Chesterfield Job Centre to see how the firm could help those in the community seeking employment.

Fiaz commented: “The skill set we required for the Customer Journey Agent was to be data and analytic driven, to help support the complete journey for the client. In the first 5 minutes speaking to Andrew, he demonstrated confidence and ability in these skill sets, and his attitude to take ownership made it an easy decision.

“In times like these, the best thing we can do is give chance, and provide a supporting environment for young people to grow and learn skills, that will not only help them in their professional life, but more importantly build life skills.”

The company has now confirmed that further to adding Andrew to the team, the firm is now looking to fill two further positions through the scheme. One of the positions is currently being advertised (Business Development Agent), providing an opportunity for an experienced salesperson to progress within their career with a future in Business Development.

Another position in the company will be out soon; as the company aims to add a Marketing Agent to its team. This position will focus on all things Marketing, identifying social media trends and working with social media accounts.
