We Are Spaces attains prestigious CIOB accreditation

A Chesterfield business specialising in commercial interior design and workspace transformation has received prestigious accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Building.

CIOB is the leading international professional body for those working in and leading the construction industry. Established in 1834, it offers a range of services including membership, professional development, qualifications, and resources to support individuals and organisations in shaping the future of the built environment, driving innovation, sustainability, and ethical practices.

The accreditation is the latest in a string of successes for We Are Spaces, having recently expanded into larger office premises at the Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre.

Amy Revell, Co-Founder and Director at We Are Spaces explained the importance of the firm’s latest achievement: “We are one of the few fit out contractors to achieve this prestigious accreditation in the UK. Being awarded CIOB accreditation shows that as an organisation, we have demonstrated high levels of competence, commitment and excellence, whilst fostering a collaborative culture where ideas and expertise are shared to achieve the best outcomes.”.

“Our CIOB accreditation gives our clients confidence our standards are high, and our ability to successfully deliver is robust. Our accreditation also helps to attract likeminded and highly skilled individuals to join our growing team.

In terms of the company’s further growth, Amy added: “We’ve got a firm business plan for the next 5 years and sustainable growth is a key goal, ensuring we grow at an appropriate rate, with the best people in our industry.

“We’re looking to nationally grow our three key businesses within the group. They are We Are Spaces, our interior fit-out business, We Are FM which specialises in facilities management, and We Are Interiors which focuses on commercial interior and external decorating and specialist finishes.”

Andy Dabbs, Destination Chesterfield Board Member and Chair of the town’s Property and Construction Group added: “It’s so pleasing to see We Are Spaces achieving CIOB accreditation and continuing to grow and thrive in our town.

“The property and construction sector plays a huge role in creating jobs and improving the built environment in Chesterfield. The continued growth of our businesses will enable the town to attract further investment and create more opportunities in our local economy.”

Chesterfield homes to get a new lease of life in major renovation

A section of houses in Chesterfield which have been unoccupied for many years are now being brought back to life, following an exciting collaboration between two property businesses.

The buildings at 18-20 Highfield Road date back over 150 years, and are now being restored into high-end and co-living homes.

Once complete, the properties will be managed by Dovedale Property Lettings, who are working alongside Property Projects Group on the revamp.

The works will also greatly improve the energy efficiency of the properties, with plenty of insulation being installed ready for the arrival of new occupants.

Rick Cusimano, Co-Owner of Dovedale Property Lettings explained the story behind the exciting project: “Overgrown with trees and weeds, the houses were barely visible from the road for many years.

“I first became aware of them around 5 years ago, when I tried to make some enquiries to locate the owners, to no avail. Eventually, I saw them go up for auction and immediately knew I had to try and restore them if I could.

“Mark-Jonathan Wilkinson from Property Projects Group shared my vision for bringing these properties back into use and after a few visits he decided to take it on! His team is doing a great job over there.”

“With super-fast broadband and modern decor, these will be stunning places to live. I’m incredibly excited to be able to restore these houses to high-end homes, it’ll be an incredible transformation. Work is progressing well and we’re hoping to be able to officially launch in August this year!”

In addition, Rick also explained the many strengths Chesterfield has for people looking to locate themselves or their families: “I’m a huge advocate for Chesterfield, it has so much potential, with excellent transport links north and south, and the Peak District on the doorstep, it has an enviable location and a huge charm and character with its iconic crooked spire and mock tudor buildings.

“We’re so excited to see the regeneration and development happening within the town, and we’re delighted to be helping, one property at a time!”

Keep up-to-date with the project on the Property Projects Group Linkedin page and the Dovedale Property Lettings website.

Recognition for Robert Woodhead Ltd following work on Bolsover housing projects

Robert Woodhead Ltd has been shortlisted for two awards, following work carried out in the Bolsover area.

Working alongside Bolsover District Council in bringing new homes to the area, the construction firm has been recognised in two categories by the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE).

The first award that the partnership has been shortlisted for is the Best Housing, Regeneration or New Build Initiative. The entry, Bolsover Homes New Build Initiative, details the success of the Bolsover Homes partnerships as it stands at the midway point of the 4 year agreement in the construction of high quality homes, the innovations within the programme as well as social, economic and environmental value that has been delivered to the local community.

The second award is the Best Public / Private Partnership, which focuses on the collaborative nature of the Bolsover Homes scheme as a key reason for the programme’s success.

This achievement follows the partnership also reaching the finalist stage for the Constructing Excellence East Midlands 2022, where they were finalised for the Integration & Collaborative Working Award.

Mathew Hall, Marketing Manager at Robert Woodhead Limited commented: “Being shortlisted for an APSE Award is a fantastic achievement, there were over 300 submissions from across the UK, all highlighting the very best of public sector excellence.

“To be recognised as finalists in two categories is fantastic and it demonstrates the exceptional work Bolsover District Council is delivering in terms of investing in high quality, sustainable housing and social value.  Well done everyone and good luck in the final!”
