Elliot Mather Appoints Three New LLP Members 

Full service law firm Elliot Mather LLP announces the appointment of three LLP Members –Felicity Coats, Diane Gunn and Daniel Lindon.

In recent months, Elliot Mather have experienced exponential growth across the firm, and are pleased to announce the promotion of Senior Associate Solicitors Felicity Coats, Diane Gunn and Daniel Lindon to LLP Member status.

Felicity is a highly experienced Criminal Defence Solicitor and has been with the firm since 2008. She has been instrumental in establishing a crime presence in Derby since they first gained a contract to do criminal work there in 2017. In that short time, Elliot Mather have built a significant presence thanks to the efforts of Felicity and her colleagues at Derby.

Speaking on her appointment as LLP Member, Felicity said: “I am thrilled to have been promoted to NDM, having worked my way up from paralegal level. I am hoping to grow the Derby team and expand the success of the department.  I am lucky to work with such an excellent team who always put their all into their work, are committed to client care, and are supportive of each other.”

Diane has a high level of expertise as a Child Care Solicitor and has been with the firm since 2017.  She is a Member of Resolution and the Law Society’s Children Panel Accreditation Scheme, meaning that she can represent children, as well as parents and other family members in care proceedings and other related proceedings. She is dedicated to the Child Care Department, not only running her own substantial case load, but being heavily involved in the training and development of staff.

Speaking on her appointment, Diane said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as LLP Member in Elliot Mather’s Child Care Department. I’m looking forward to what the future brings for the department and future successes. I feel lucky to be working within such a brilliant team who are dedicated to providing expert assistance to those going through Care Proceedings.”

Daniel joined Elliot Mather in 2021 to head up the Residential Conveyancing Team in their Nottingham office. In his relatively short time with the firm, Daniel has dealt with an unprecedented high number of referrals for residential conveyancing.  It is hoped that under Daniel’s steerage the team at Nottingham will go from strength to strength and become a key element of their strategic development in Nottingham.

Daniel said: “I am very happy, and grateful, to have accepted the offer of partnership and to be appointed as an LLP Member at Elliot Mather LLP. I am very much looking forward to what the future has to hold, and being part of the ongoing success and development of the Residential Property Department in Nottingham.”

Elliot Mather Appoints New LLP Member of Family Department in Chesterfield

Full service law firm Elliot Mather LLP has announced the appointment of a new LLP Member – Ben Lawson – who has joined the company’s Family Law department based at its Head office in Chesterfield.

Ben is a highly experienced Family Solicitor having worked in the legal profession for many years. During his career, he has worked in offices across Derbyshire, whilst also assisting clients across both Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.

Ben joins an already exceptional Family Law team at Elliot Mather and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the department. He assists clients with all issues arising from relationship breakdowns, having particular interest in: complex financial matters, child arrangements, nuptial agreements, and high net worth divorces.

Head of the Family Department at Elliot Mather LLP Appointed as President of Derby Law Society

Julie Skill, LLP Member and head of the Family Department at Elliot Mather has been appointed as President of the Derby Law Society.

Julie has practised Family Law since 1989 and has been with the firm since she was a paralegal. She possesses a high level of expertise relating to a broad range of family matters. She advises on matters such as, pre-nuptial agreements, and if the worst happens and a relationship does fail, she handles all aspects of that relationship breakdown, including issues relating to children, finances and domestic abuse in an efficient and practical manner.

Commenting on her appointment as President of the Derby Law Society, Julie said: “I am extremely proud to even have been considered for the role and I am thankful for the nomination to be chosen. To have my name added to the list of such esteemed predecessors is an absolute privilege and honour. Although I am taking over the role of President at a very unique and somewhat bizarre time, I am dedicated to ensuring that I do justice to the position.”

The Derby Law Society was established in early 1886, and consisted of 35 members who were committed to starting a Law Library. Since then, the Derby Law Society has experienced exponential growth and represents lawyers across the whole of Derbyshire and East Staffordshire.

The Society aims to support the legal profession locally by offering training, social events, and representing its members’ interest. Additionally, the Society aims to assist the public in sourcing solicitors with a particular specialism.

The team at Elliot Mather are extremely proud of Julie’s latest appointment of President and we are sure that she will be a great success in the role.

Chesterfield-based Solicitors Elliot Mather announces new additions to residential property team

Chesterfield-based full service law firm Elliot Mather is demonstrating further growth and success by announcing new additions to the company’s Residential Property team.

The firm’s latest recruit, Daniel Lindon joins the team as a Senior Associate Solicitor. Daniel has worked in the legal profession for many years, qualifying as a Solicitor in 2005. Daniel brings with him over 15 years’ experience in Property Law. During his career he has worked across offices in Nottinghamshire, as well as West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire. He brings a wealth of local knowledge to the department.

This appointment comes just shortly following recent appointments of experienced Associate Solicitors; Tina Rana and Rabi Miah.

Tina possesses a high level of expertise in residential conveyancing, allowing her to advise clients locally and regionally on matters, including: residential sales and purchases, re-mortgaging, new build purchases, right to buy, declaration of trusts, auction sales and purchases, help to buy mortgages and transfer of equity.

Rabi qualified as a solicitor in 2017 after having achieved her LLB from the University of Warwick and her LPC from Nottingham Law School. She has extensive experience in dealing with all aspects of residential conveyancing including: leasehold, unregistered title, adverse possession, shared ownership, as well as new builds.

Alan Grant, Chief Operations Officer at Elliot Mather said: “The recent recruits in our Residential Property team, as well as those across the Practice, demonstrates our desire to deliver our client focused legal services to a wider audience.”

The new recruits now mean that the Residential team comprises of 5 qualified members to service the needs of more clients based locally, regionally, and even nationally.

These are exciting times for the firm.

Whist due to COVID no one is sure what will happen in the future we just wish to ensure we are number 1 in the property market.”

The team will be working from Elliot Mather’s Nottingham office, which opened its doors in 2019.
