Hogg Norton wins prestigious Great British Food Award

Hogg Norton, a North Derbyshire producer of fruit liqueurs has won Silver at this year’s Great British Food Awards for its Passion Fruit Liqueur product.

The latest accolade is Hogg Norton’s 3rd Great British Food Award, which sits alongside 10 Great Taste Awards the business has won since it was founded.  Find out more about Hogg Norton’s latest Great Taste Award win.

Explaining his delight at being recognised once again, Mike Norton, co-founder of Hogg Norton commented: “The Great British Food Awards provides us with the opportunity to have our food and drink tasted by some of the UK’s most acclaimed chefs, critics and influencers.

“This is why it is so important as we are judged by experts in their fields and we are proud that we have achieved 3 of these awards which shows we produce our liqueurs to a consistently high standard.

“Winning this award shows that our products are recognised throughout the country.  All produced in Chesterfield and made with no artificial colours or preservatives. Our liqueurs are great on their own, with Prosecco, added to tonic or a lemonade for a long drink or can flavour Gins, Vodkas, Whiskeys or Rums or even poured over desserts and ice cream.”

Speaking about how Chesterfield is the ideal location for the producer, Mike added: “Being based in the Chesterfield gives us inspiration, as we have the best of both worlds – being on the edge of the Peak District and close to all the amenities of the town.”

Hogg Norton also appeared on an episode of ITV’s Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh earlier this year, with the company’s gooseberry liqueur featured on the show.

Chesterfield-made drinks awarded two stars at prestigious Great Taste Awards 2023

Hogg Norton, an independent producer of fruit liqueurs and other alcoholic beverages has taken two stars at the Great Taste Awards 2023.

Great Taste is the world’s largest and most trusted food & drink accreditation scheme, with products across the world being put to the test by a panel of more than 500 experts.

Hogg Norton’s Rhubarb Liqueur and Gooseberry Liqueur have both been awarded two stars, meaning they have been rated as ‘outstanding.’

The producer has now won a total of 10 Great Taste Awards, after winning accolades in 2019, 2020 and 2021 for various products.

Michael Norton, Co-Owner at Hogg Norton commented: “We are so proud to win the awards, as it is judged by industry experts.

“Winning the awards shows that we consistently deliver a quality product which gives confidence to our customers and also makes us stand out against our competitors.  Having these international awards just shows what local producers can achieve and what amazing products are produced in Chesterfield.”

Other local winners from our area include Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop, which was given a two-star ‘outstanding’ award for its Chatsworth Honey Ale, and also Global Brands, which recieved a ‘simply delicious’ rating for a number of products across its ‘Franklin & Sons’ range of drinks.

Chesterfield-made fruit liqueur products to be featured on ITV’s Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh

A Chesterfield drinks producer is set to showcase some of the town’s fabulous local produce on TV’s Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh.

Hogg Norton’s gooseberry liqueur will be featured on the ITV 1 show, which will be aired on Sunday, 4th June. The product is made by the company here in Chesterfield, amongst a wide range of tasty fruit liqueurs.

All of the Gooseberries used in the product are grown in Chesterfield around the Holymoorside area.

Michael Norton, Co-Founder of Hogg Norton said: “It is amazing to see our products on the TV. It showcases what we produce, especially as it is all from Chesterfield and also the quality of our products as well.

“This is the second time with Andy and Alan on Love Your Weekend, as the Cherry flavour was on the show last year. We have also previously featured in the Great British Menu with our Sloe and Rhubarb liqueur too.

Michael added that he is proud to be putting Chesterfield on the map with his products: “What we produce in Chesterfield, and the fact that nearly all the fruit we use is from Chesterfield really gives that local link, which to us is very important. I feel makes us stand out in the industry.

“We have also been showcased previously by winning eight Great Taste Awards and two Great British Food awards, which is also testament to the quality of our liqueurs.

“Buying local is so important to any local producer. The passion and quality that goes into our products, and the fact that it is made locally with local ingredients really is something to be proud of. For locals to buy something which is from their area makes it that extra bit special.”

The guests joining Alan Titchmarsh on the show will be Lesley Joseph, Dan Walker, Anne Reid and Nancy Carol, with Andy Clarke (pictured right) hosting the cocktail session.
