If you’re in the mood for something new, why not try your hand at axe throwing at The Snake Room on Whittington Moor. Perhaps hold off on that celebratory drink until after you’ve landed a few bull’s eyes! Refreshments are available on site for your night out. Or choose from a variety of pubs and restaurants along the same street – also home to Chesterfield Football Club.

Immerse yourself in fun puzzles and hidden spaces at Chesterfield Escape Rooms with games styles to suit all tastes. You’ve only got an hour. So you’ll have to work well as a team if you want to make it out in time! Based in the town centre, it is the perfect location to combine with a meal or drinks.

For a relaxed night out, head to Chesterfield Bowl. As well as special events like glow bowling, there are lots of special offers to enjoy. Play pool and video games and then onto the town centre for more entertainment.

The local music scene
A key music venue for Chesterfield, hidden on Marsden Street is Real Time Live. The purpose-built space can hold up to 250 people and has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Real Time Live hosts a variety of gigs of events – from rock and blues to pop and retro. It also supports community and charity events during the year. And the business even offers its own brand of real local ale – Real Time Live Best – created in partnership with Brampton Brewery on Chatsworth Road.
Comedy and shows
You will find big names at the Winding Wheel Theatre. Comedians that have visited in the past include Jimmy Carr, Jason Manford and Katherine Ryan. There’s a full range of theatre – from tribute bands and musicals to murder mysteries from the West End.
Open mic nights
For those with a burning desire to sing, why not get your moment under the spotlight. Open mic nights take place in a range of venues across Chesterfield. Who knows, it may even prove to be a stepping stone to making a big name for yourself!
Experience night-time events
Keep an eye out for popular night time events taking place across Chesterfield. Dress up in pink and join in the charity fun with Ashgate Hospice’s Sparkle Night Walk. Enjoy Chesterfield Pride at Stand Road Park. Or enjoy firework displays around 5th November. The Christmas lights in the town centre are always memorable. An evening of golf?
Book a late afternoon tee time to make the most of those summer evenings. Stanedge Golf Club is open seven days per week and is also home to Tyzack’s Bar and Restaurant, where both golfers and non-golfers can sample fresh, locally-sourced dishes.
Live sport
If you’re looking for somewhere comfy to settle in to catch live football, tennis, rugby, cricket and more, you’ll feel at home in Chesterfield. Brampton Brewery pub, the Rose & Crown screens both indoors and in the Whistlestop Garden, with an ever changing range of beers. The Spotted Frog is a trendy venue near the town centre and next to the Crooked Spire in the heart of town is the Burlington, popular for its offers alongside the latest sport. Enjoy a local Jackson’s pork pie beside one of the two screens at The Glassworks on Whittington Moor, opposite Chesterfield Football Club. And of course, what could be better than live, local football pitch side at SMH Group Stadium on Sheffield Road.

If you’re in need of an after work wind down, head to Queen’s Park Sports Centre or Staveley Healthy Living Centre for an evening workout. Body Pump, Body Combat, indoor cycling and aquacise are just some of the group classes on offer. The gym is open until 10pm on weekdays for self-motivated souls.

In the town centre you can choose from an extensive, fruity cocktail menu at Bottle and Thyme, as well as a selection of mocktails. Also in the heart of the town, Chandlers is one of the longest standing cocktail bars in Chesterfield, with a number of ice cream specials to try.
